Light is the universal symbol of hope. We want to raise awareness in Connecticut about the plight of older children in foster care who wait far too long for forever families. During May (National Foster Care Month) and November (National Adoption Month) we concentrate our efforts on educating community partners about the need for homes for children and youth in foster care. Distributing blue LED tea-light candles to businesses and faith communities to represent the children waiting will promote awareness and help “light the way home” for waiting children. Along with the candles, community partners will receive information about local children waiting for forever homes and have an opportunity for a free presentation from our staff.
